At Búlali, design is not just seen — it’s felt. Rooted in the minimalist elegance of the Japandi aesthetic, the space embraces a local soul: raw tropical materials and the warmth of Costa Rican identity.
Neutral tones, natural fibers, and sculptural forms converge to cultivate an atmosphere of quiet harmony. Every detail pays poetic homage to the world of bees, transforming the space into a multisensory narrative. Here, design transcends function — it becomes storytelling in its purest form.
At the heart of Búlali floats a breathtaking, 22-meter-long suspended sculpture: meticulously handcrafted from over 200 kilograms of Cabuya fiber, interlaced around a parametrically designed steel frame. Like a whispered ode to the honeycomb, it drifts ethereally above. Over four months, local artisans infused the piece with care and tradition, merging cutting-edge technology with the irreplaceable touch of the human hand. The result is more than a design object — it is a testament to the magic born when art, architecture, and craft unite.
In a world of relentless overstimulation, Búlali offers a moment of pause. Textures are not concealed — they are celebrated. Through organic lines, timeless craftsmanship, and sensory storytelling, Design Lab by Esteban Salazar brings a transformative experience to the eastern side of San José — one where every element speaks, and every detail whispers a story. Here, art creates wonder — and wonder lingers.
